Valya Chervenyashka, one of the Bulgarian medics, who has just marked the first anniversary since their release from imprisonment in Libya, said Monday France is the only country that cares about her and her colleagues in an interview for Darik Radio.

The nurse, who is living in the town of Byala Slatina, failed to come for the dinner, given by the French ambassador to Sofia Etienne de Poncins, as she had not enough money to pay for her transport ticket.

"Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev refuses to meet us not because of his numerous engagement but as he simply does not want to," Chervenyashka said.

"Our rulers assume we are going to demand what they promised us and are afraid of that," she added as a comment to the fact that Bulgaria's high-ranking officials do not hear the medics' demand over seeing them.

"We are now settling our differences concerning the steps we will take in the future," the nurse announced.

Kristiyana Valcheva, Nasya Nenova, Valentina Siropulo, Valya Chervenyashka, Snezhana Dimitrova, Doctor Zdravko Georgiev and Ashraf Al-Hadjudj spent more than eight years in Libyan prison over accusations of deliberately infecting more 460 children with HIV at the Benghazi hospital.

Last Thursday they marked the first anniversary since they landed on Bulgarian soil by the aircraft of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy shortly before 10 a.m. on July 24 2007.
