Metro Cash & Carry Invests BGN 40 M in Second Store in Plovdiv

The German wholesale chain Metro Cash & Carry is going to open a second store in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv.

The Managing Director of Metro Cash & Carry Bulgaria Willi Beisheim, the Regional Director for Eastern Europe Emiliyan Abadzhiev and the Mayor of the Maritza Municipality Zapryan Dachev turned the first sod of the new store on Friday.

The investment will be for BGN 40 M. About 200 local people will be employed in the new store, which will have an area of 7500 square meters.

This will be Metro's eleventh store in Bulgaria. The company has one store under construction in the northern city of Pleven, and is planning to build another one in Sofia.
