The price of the public transport ticket for one trip in the city of Varna will become BGN 1 on Tuesday, July 15, reaching the prices in the capital Sofia.
The Mayor of Varna Kiril Yordanov pointed out to the rising oil prices as the reason for the increase.
This is the second rise in the public transport prices in Varna in 2008, after the BGN 0,6 ticket became BGN 0,8 on January 1, 2008.
On July 1 the public transport ticket for one trip became BGN 1 in the capital Sofia up from BGN 0,7.
At the beginning of July the employees of the public transport in Varna threatened with a general strike unless their salaries went up by BGN 350.
As a result, the Varna Municipality promised to increased the drivers' salaries by BGN 241.
