CSKA Ex-Head, Fin Director Testify in Money Embezzlement Case against Them

Crime | July 2, 2008, Wednesday // 00:00

Bulgaria's National Investigation Services is to interrogate Wednesday the former president and the finance director of the football champion CSKA, Alexander Tomov and Alexander Garibov, over money embezzlement.

Sofia Prosecutor's Office has officially accused the two officials of taking a total of EUR 5 M they had to manage, as the money was given to PFC CSKA by Kremikovtsi Company in 2007.

CSKA have failed to get a license from the Bulgarian Football Union over unpaid debts, thus being banished from participation in UEFA's Champions League.

Former President Tomov had repeatedly stated all debts of the club were settled, but after the truth about the financial mismanagement of the club was revealed, he narrowly escaped lynching by angry fans before resigning.
