Bulgaria's Education Minister Daniel Vulchev presented Tuesday at the Ministry's building certificates to the finalists from the national "Young Talents 2008" competition.
The competition has been organized by the Education Ministry for the tenth consecutive time.
High school students and first year college students participate in the competition with innovative and/or scientific projects in the areas on natural and social sciences, information and communication technologies.
First place this year was won by Alexander Kolarski, a student from the High School for Natural Sciences in Montana. Kolarski received a certificate and the right to participate in the European "Young Talents" competition, which is going to be held in Denmark in September of 2008. Kolarski has created an online electronic programming language collection Pascal.
Ivan Penchev and Momchil Konstantinov from the Mathematics High School in Sofia are the second place winners. They also received certificates and the right to participate in a youth competition in Hungary from July 13 to July 20. They presented a mathematical project for proving the impossibility of a number to be divided in factors.
Hristo Georgiev, a high school sophomore from the Mathematical School in Gotse Delchev received third place for his chemistry education plan for students in grades 7 and 8. He also received a certificate and the right to participate in the competition in Denmark.
