In a series of raids across the country, US authorities have arrested more than 300 people involved in child prostitution rings and removed 21 juveniles from the streets, the FBI announced.
The sweeps were conducted in 16 cities over the past five days, CNN reported.
"Our top priority in these cases has always been to identify children victims and move swiftly to remove them from these dangerous environments," FBI Director Robert Mueller said.
A University of Pennsylvania study found that an estimated 300,000 children in the United States are at risk of being sexually exploited for commercial uses.
The FBI, in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), announced the operation's results to mark the five-year anniversary of a programme entitled Innocence Lost, which has targeted domestic trafficking in child prostitution.
The sweeps were conducted in 16 cities over the past five days, CNN reported.
