The nationalist Bulgarian National Union led by Nikolay Rasate demands that the changes in the country's legal code be made in order to incriminate the public display of homosexuality.

The BNU held Wednesday its round table entitled "How to Limit and Fight the Harms from Homosexuality and Pedophilia in Bulgaria?"

The forum is part of a whole week of events called "Week of Intolerance" organized by the nationalist extremists as a countermeasure to the gay parade planned to take place in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Saturday, June 28.

The Headquarters of the BNU announced that the round table had been attended by public figures, intellectuals, representatives of different religions, and NGOs but did not specify, which NGOs and religions were represented.

At the end of the round table, the participants agreed on a declaration, in which the demand to incriminate the public display of homosexuality is only the first point.

The BNU demands as well that all organizations which "promote openly homosexuality, pedophilia, and other sexual perversions" be prohibited immediately.

Finally, citing the frequent cases of sexual abuse of children, the nationalist extremists demand that greater punishments for pedophilia be introduced including the death penalty.

The BNU claims their demands were motivated by their desire to preserve the moral values and the cultural identity of the Bulgarian people, and to provide security for the Bulgarian children.

Their declaration has been sent to the President, the Parliament, and the Council of Ministers.

"We will do anything possible to stop this madness, and to stop the unimpeded spreading of homosexuality and pedophilia in the Bulgarian society. We are not afraid, and we are not sorry for anything", the BNU leader Boyan Rasate said at the end of the forum.
