Bulgarian Sentenced for Fake Marriages Scam in South Carolina

The 39-year old Bulgarian Krassimir Simeonov has been sentenced by a US court for arranging fake marriages between Bulgarians and American citizens, the South Carolina Now reported on Saturday.

Simeonov got a 15-month sentence in Florence, South Carolina, as he was found guilty of being the ringleader of a complex marriage scam scheme allowing Bulgarian nationals to marry Americans and to seek US resident status as a result.

Krassimir Simeonov and his companion admitted to have received between USD 3000 and USD 8000 for each arranged marriage.

A total of 26 persons from different states have pleaded guilty under the case.
