Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu signs Sunday a decree introducing 40 newly effective laws, which is also the sign of the Kosovar's Constitution becoming effective.
Pristine and entire Kosovo as a new country that recently declared its independence, are ready to celebrate the country's first Constitution.
Te Constitution was adopted on April 9 and gives extensive powers to the President while Kosovo becomes an independent, parliamentary republic.
There is also an official ceremony planned in Pristine in connection with the Constitution taking effect where the new Kosovo anthem "Europe" is also going to be presented. The President, the Prime Minister and many representatives of the new diplomatic corps and official guest from abroad are among the ceremony's participants.
The Kosovo politicians note that the new Constitution gives rights to all citizens and comes as result of big compromises. The Albanians are mentioned only once while the other minorities such as Serbians, Bosnians, Turks - a total of 22 times.
The Kosovo Serbians have declared that they consider the new Constitution an illegal document not recognized by them and would respond by the establishment of a Serbian Parliament on June 28.
There have been numerous incidents related to the new Constitution's adoption, especially in Kosovska Mitritsa where there has been a shooting against a Kosovo police station with one police officer and the Serbian shooter being injured. A Serbian flag, mounted on the top of a mosque is also seen as a sign of Serbian protest.
