An everyday passenger ship line is going to connect the Bulgarian Danube town of Svishtov and the Romanian port of Zimnich.
The 200-seat passenger ship will travel between the two ports twice a day. The line has been in operation for a year but has been working only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It has been used by more than 13 000 passengers.
The new everyday line will be opened at the initiative of the Romanian side since the cheap ticket (only EUR 5 roundtrip) allows many Romanians from the Teleorman Region to come to shop cheaply on the Bulgarian side.
Most shops and restaurants in Svishtov and the region have already translated their menus and goods names in Romanian, whereas the discos in the town play Romanian music more often.
The international port of Svishtov on its part organizes boat trips along the Danube islands every Saturday at noon.
