The upcoming monitoring report of the EC is not going to activate the safeguard clause for Bulgaria, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin, who was on a visit to the city of Pleven Monday.

Kalfin believes that Bulgaria is under extremely intense scrutiny from Brussels, but it would, at the end, prove beneficial for the country.

"The institutions, at the moment, are mobilized to the maximum in order to execute all necessary reforms, however, this is not the result of the upcoming report, they are doing it for the Bulgarian citizens' well-being", Kalfin stated, adding that he was certain that the report would take into account the positive that has been done.

According to the Foreign Minister, the EC report from January has been objective and to the point.

"Our country is very different compared to three years ago, exactly regarding the justice system and the internal affairs. Different for the better, including civil awareness and inadmissibility of certain things that previously no one paid attention to", said Kalfin.

The Foreign Minister believes that everything happening lately just shows that the Cabinet has a clear political will to successfully deal with the justice system's problems and those of the Interior Ministry and that there aren't any political umbrellas over anyone.

Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev also stated Monday that he expects to see Bulgaria's successes reflected in the EC monitoring report.

The last Euro Commissars' missions in Bulgaria concluded last week with cheek-ups of the two of the most serious and difficult criteria - organized crime and corruption.

The EC began writing the report Monday and the results are expected no later then the end of July.
