Bulgaria Transportation Minister Expects Delay in Fuel Excise Price Increase

I expect that Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski and his Depute Cyril Zhelev are going to present a document for the delay in the fuel excise price increase, Petar Mutafchiev, Bulgarian Transportation Minister stated in front of reporters Friday.
"In Bulgaria the excise is below the minimal value in the European Union while at the same time, the prices are close to those in Europe", Mutafchiev pointed out, adding that other EU countries, where excise is of average value have the chance to reduce it, however, there is no way for such reduction to happen in Bulgaria since we are already below the lowest value.
Mutafchiev also explained that Bulgaria couldn't undertake actions contradicting the rules of the EU.
"At the moment, a work group is preparing possibilities for excise derogation and if the analysis proves that there is a fuel crisis on the Bulgarian market and it is confirmed by the EC, then a restriction for the new excise price increase can be imposed", promised the Minister.
The group's report is expected on June 15 when Mutafchiev will meet with the transportation carriers again.
