Bulgaria's recently appointed Deputy PM Meglena Plugchieva promised Wednesday that the rightist opposition would be able to participate in the monitoring and control of the absorption of EU funds under the operative programs.

This arrangement was made during Pluchieva's meeting with Members of Parliament form the rightist opposition. She pointed out this would guarantee the policy of transparency in this sphere declared by the government.

After the meeting, the Deputy PM announced as well that the draft bill for the changes in the Public Procurement Act would be submitted to the Parliament before June 5.

"I have assumed the responsibility to prepare a timeline according to which all respective ministers and their teams will appear before the Parliament to present reports so that the development of each operative program could be followed", Plugchieva explained.

MP Lidiya Shuleva from the New Bulgarian Democracy party, who is also of former member of the Simeon Saxe-Coburg government (2001-2005) said Plugchieva's appointment was a very belated reaction, and that she had to implement a complicated action plan in order to compensate for the three-year inactivity.

MP Neno Dimov from the rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party of the former PM Ivan Kostov pointed out in turn that Plugchieva, who was Bulgaria's ambassador to Germany, had to come back in order to bring the spirit of the German parliamentary tradition so that the ministers could be held accountable in the Parliament.

"We need to solve problems here with joint efforts, it is not a good thing to transfer them so that they would become problems of the EU", Plugchieva commented.
