93 Kilos of Heroin Caught at the Bulgarian Turkish Border

Custom officers at the frontier post Malko Turnovo between Bulgaria and Turkey confiscated over 93 kg of heroin last night. The narcotic drug has been discovered after the selection of a vehicle arriving from Turkey by using the "risk analysis" method.

The news was announced by the press-center of the Regional Customs Agency in Bourgas.

The heroin packages were discovered in a special hiding place in the car's ceiling. The "Honda" vehicle had Bulgarian registration plates. Two Bulgarian citizens, 40 and 28 years old have been detained. Preliminary legal proceedings have been initiated against them while the authorities continue working on the case

The confiscated heroin is valued at over BGN 12 M.

This is the second instance of illegal heroin trafficking discovered at Malko Turnovo this year. On March 26, over 38 kg of heroin were found in a bus with Turkish registration plates.
