Bulgaria Average Monthly Salary BGN 484 for 2008

The average monthly salary in Bulgaria is BGN 484 for the first trimester of 2008, still the lowest in the EC, according to data from the National Statistics Institute.
The monthly salary, however, has gone up 6% or BGN 28 compared to the previous trimester. The growth in the public sector is BGN 2 while the one in the private sector is BGN 36.
Employees in financial brokerage and production and distribution of electric power, gas and water sectors have been the highly paid ones for the first three months of 2008 - respectively BGN 1153 and BGN 818 per month. The lowest pay is registered in the restaurant, hotel, agriculture, forestry and angling sectors - between BGN 315 and BGN 348.
Compared to the first trimester of last year, the monthly salary in Bulgaria has increased with 24,4% or BGN 95.
