At least 19 people were killed in Oklahoma and Missouri as tornadoes and severe storms weather swept across the Midwest.

A tornado in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, killed seven people and destroyed a great number of homes, emergency management agencies reported as quoted by CNN.

Numerous injuries were reported between Seneca and Neosho near the Missouri-Kansas border where another tornado touched down.

A tornado and thunderstorms in Missouri have killed at least two and the number of casualties is rising.

The severe weather is expected to continue, moving east out of Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma and into the southeastern states, the National Weather Service said.

Storms were expected to calm Sunday morning before intensifying in Georgia and the Carolinas again in the afternoon.
