Bulgaria's government has officially confirmed the reports over its structure changes, approved at a session of the ruling coalition's political council on Tuesday.

The current chair of the Socialist parliamentary group Mihail Mikov was appointed an interior minister after Rumen Petkov handed in his resignation after recent scandals that have shaken the institution.

Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil will be replaced by Valeri Tsvetanov, an employee from the Agroecology Institute Pushkarov.

The post of the Defense Minister Vesselin Bliznakov is to be taken by Nikolay Tsonev, the Executive Director of Executive Agency "Social Activities" with the ministry, reports claim.

The former mayor of the town of Stara Zagora Evgeniy Zhelev is to replace the current Bulgaria Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski.

As it was currently announced, Bulgaria's ambassador to Germany Meglena Plugchieva will become the deputy PM without portfolio, who is to take responsibility for monitoring and coordination of the European funding.
