A suicide bomber has attacked a funeral in northern Iraq, killing at least 49 people and wounding at least 20 others.
The attacker detonated the bomb in the Sunni village of Bu Mohammed, near the city of Baquba, north of the capital Baghdad, BBC reported.
According to US military authorities, al-Qaeda is behind the attack as the funeral was for two members of a local group that has been fighting with militant forces.
The number of deaths from insurgent attacks in Iraq has been rising over recent months, statistics show.
The monthly figure of people killed rose by 50% in March compared to the previous month, according to the Iraqi government.
