The Court of Appeal in the coastal city of Burgas is to announce its sentence over the case with ice skating champion Maxim Staviiski, charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated bodily harm, in a 30-day term.
Monday's hearing lasted for an hour and prosecution reiterated demands for the imprisonment of Staviiski.
The appeal against Staviiski's first sentence was filled by the parents of comatose Manuela Gorsova and the relatives of Petar Petrov, who died in the car crash caused by the defender.
In the beginning of February, the skating champ was given a 2,5-year suspended sentence and five years to be served in probation over drunk driving and causing the heavy crash.
The civil claim filed on behalf of Gorsova and set at BGN 2 M was rejected and the court decided the girl would get BGN 80,000 compensation.
The compensation demanded by the parents of Petrov was also cut and Staviiski would have to pay BGN 180,000, instead of BGN 500,000.
The deadly crash occurred on August 5 last year after Staviiski veered into the opposite lane on a bridge over the Ropotamo River near the coastal city of Burgas and hit headlong into another car with four people riding in it.
