Bulgaria Tran Shooter's Son: Orphans from Town Are Scourge of God

Crime | March 13, 2008, Thursday // 00:00

The girls and boys from the orphanage in Bulgaria's town of Tran are a scourge of God and the home should be closed, said Thursday the son of the paedophile, who killed a girl and injured two more children a day ago.

The statement was made in an interview for Bulgaria's private national Darik Radio.

"They constantly come to my home without having any reason to do so," Ivo Iliev explained.

"All that happened because my father was tormented, with all those charges against him, rised by people, who I do not want to mention but their names could be checked in the papers of the Regional Prosecutor's Office," he added.

Assen Iliev, 67, was twice sentenced for raping children. There were also eight legal procedures brought against him over the same accusations.

He committed suicide after shooting dead a 15-year-old orphan and injuring two others in a bloody incident that occurred in Tran on Wednesday.

The victim Lilyana Todorova was a witness in one of the cases against her killer.
