Romanian tourists have already booked many of the spots in the resorts along Bulgaria's northern Black Sea Coast around the city of Varna for the Orthodox Easter holiday on April 27-28.

This was announced by the chair of Varna Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners (VAHRO) Dimitar Lefterov before the Bulgarian private Darik Radio.

Lefterov said the Romanians recently started to prefer Turkey as a holiday destination. But with the many reservations for this year's Easter, he expressed his hope that the Romanian guests were going to come back and would fill up all the spots.

Lefterov also announced the VAHRO and the Varna Chamber of Tourism tabled a request to the Varna Mayor and the City Council for reducing the municipal tourist fees.

The VAHRO chair was positive that most of the hotels in the Varna region were ready to welcome their guests for the spring-summer season. He complained, however, about the lack of skilled laborers such cooks, waiters, administrators, and managers, adding he had no information about arranged import of foreign laborers.

The first foreign tourists to the Bulgaria Black Sea coast - about 500 Germans from Frankfurt, Berlin, and Dusseldorf - are scheduled to arrive on March 17.
