Bulgaria's Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev announced Friday he is to decide until the end of the day whether to dismiss the head of the State Railways over the fire that killed nine passengers in a train a week ago.

The minister considers if the company's Director Oleg Petkov, the head of Passenger Transport department and other managers, serving there could impede the investigation on the case.

"I must first consult the transport parliamentary commission, the investigation services and the Prosecutor's Office to decide if such a measure should be taken," Minister Mutafchiev explained.

A total of nine people died after flames swept through two cars of a night train, traveling from the capital city of Sofia to the northern town of Kardam on February 28.
