Sofia Appellate Court is to decide within a month on the appeal, filed by MP Vladimir Kuzov, who was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of paedophilia, after key witnesses dropped their testimonies at the Wednesday's hearing on the case.

Stefan Mladenov declared before court he had never gone to Poduyane station, where Kuzov is said to have had sex with Nikolay Kirilov, who was underage at the time.

The alleged victim himself has also dropped the evidence he had previously given, saying he did not know Kuzov personally but saw him only on the TV.

The former Ataka MP Kuzov, who split from the party after the accusations were first raised against him but has repeatedly protested his innocence.

He claimed that he had been the first MP in the country who was proven normal, after experts deduced he has no sexual or psychological problems. The MP believes the whole accusation against him was a smear campaign aimed at discrediting nationalists Ataka (Attack).
