Four out of the eight dead bodies that were recovered from the charred carriages of the burned-out train in Bulgaria have already been identified, it emerged on Sunday.

These are two men and two women, officials announced, but declined to reveal names, before their identities are confirmed by DNA analyses.

Valeriya Zheleva Zheleva, a 20-year-old student at Sofia university, was the first to be indetiied.

Her friend, Antoaneta, who was travelling with her, is still missing.

Ten people have been declared missing, many of them from the town of Dobrich, others from Shumen and Varna.

More than 60 people were in the two coaches hit by the blaze on board the nine-car service from the capital Sofia to the north-eastern town of Kardam.
