Sofia City Court sentenced Dimitar Klinkov to five years in jail for participating in the assault against Dimitar Vuchev, dubbed Dembi, a notorious figure from Bulgaria's underworld.
According to the court, Dimitar Klinkov was the one who provided the car and the weapon used at the murder attempt.
Klinkov also drove the car from which the shots against Vuchev were fired on December 6, 2006. The incident took place in front of the Sky Line bar in Sofia's Simeonovo district. Vuchev was not hurt.
At the time of the shooting, Vuchev was under investigation on a long list of counts including assaults, murders, drug trafficking and battery. He was the usual suspect in Sofia contract kills and has been arrested on such occasions a total of two times.
That was the second time that the mobster narrowly dodged the bullet, as on September12, 2004, shots were fired at his Mercedes from two moving cars. No one was injured in the accident.
