Bulgaria's parliament debates Thursday the no-confidence move against the government over rampant corruption in the country.

The motion was filed by the opposition rightist and nationalist parties a week ago, accusing the socialist-led government of Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev of corruption schemes and practices in several sectors of infrastructure, healthcare, and interior.

"The cabinet must resign because its corruptness inflicts heavy damages on Bulgarian citizens and discredits Bulgaria's authority within the EU", the motives for the no confidence vote state.

The motion is supported by all opposition parties, all independent MPs, plus the Bulgarian New Democracy parliamentary group composed of 17 deputies who split off from the NMSP centrist party of the former PM and monarch Simeon Saxe-Coburg.

Representatives of the major Bulgarian opposition parties have issued a joint statement inviting all citizens to participate in the national protest rally against the government on the day of debates.

The no confidence vote itself will take place on Friday, and the opposition considers organizing another rally on that day.

Despite the unity of the opposition, the fourth no-confidence vote against the government will likely fail as the governing coalition has 151 deputies out of the 240-member parliament.
