Two teenagers were injured after a jar they found below a bench in the Sofia district of Lyulin exploded.

Initial reports say the two girls, both aged 14, threw away the jar and it went off as it hit the ground.

It was not immediately clear what the content of the jar was.

Police has sealed off the area.

The news comes just two days after a woman died while her husband and another woman were seriously injured in a deadly explosion in Sofia's Hadzhi Dimitar.

The blast occurred after the victim, biology teacher Lydia Tsekova, started pouring bottles of flammable liquids in a drainage shaft near a school in the neighbourhood.
