The union of owners in Bulgaria's Sunny Beach resort demand guarantees for nature protection and increase in the number of Russian tourists to the coast, after the construction of a new oil pipeline.

The hoteliers say Russia must guarantee that the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline, which is to take Caspian oil to Greece, will not spoil the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts.

Chair of the union Elena Ivanova told reporters that Russia should also engage in "a powerful and positive advertisement campaign" to boost the number of tourists coming to Bulgaria's beaches.

According to the owners, Greece already managed to achieve similar guarantees.

The demands of the hotel managers come a day after the end of the visit of Russian president Vladimir Putin in Sofia, which was dominated by major energy deals.
