Bulgarian prosecutors have pressed charges against Serbian national Budimir Kujovic, arrested in Stara Zagora in southeastern Bulgaria on Sunday, case prosecutor Dicho Atanassov said on Monday.

Bulgarian customs seized on Sunday 60 kilograms of heroin at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with Turkey.

Kujovic was arrested on suspicions of masterminding the crime smuggling ring and his three Bulgarian accomplices, including one who is a former custom official, have all been detained.

They are charged with aiding and abetting, as well as smuggling drugs.

The organised crime ring was focused on operations in the Stara Zagora region of Bulgaria, although experts said they believed the heroin was going to be shipped to western Europe.
