Bulgaria Launches Russe Airport Concession Tender

Business | December 21, 2007, Friday // 00:00

Bulgaria's transport ministry said on Friday it launched the tender to pick a concessionaire for the airport in the town of Russe on the Danube.

Last month, the country's cabinet gave its approval for the tender, ruling also that the concession will have a maximum term of 35 years.

Tender documents can be bought from the transport ministry, which expects bids by end-March.

Potential bidders will be required to show proof that they are licensed airport operators in the EU, who have invested at least EUR 50 M in a major project over the past five years.

They should also be currently operating at least one airport with an annual turnover of 500,000 passengers or 10,000 tonnes of cargo and at least one more airport with an annual turnover of one million passengers of 20,000 tonnes of cargo.
