Yordan Vassilev, the manager of Sofia's trams and trolleybuses company, became on Wednesday the second casualty of the ongoing probe into alleged money draining in municipal firms.
Vassilev has become the target of the investigation after Hristosko Vretenarov, the manager of the city's tram factory Tramcar, made a number of confessions earlier this month, allegedly relating to about siphoning of funds from his company, incriminating Vassilev as well.
At the request of Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov, Vassilev was sacked and will be replaced by the current chairman of the company's board of directors, Hristo Dryanovski, whose seat on the board will be taken by Slavcho Dongov.
Vretenarov has reportedly claimed that the funds he allegedly took out of Tramcar ended up with Vassilev, who claims to be innocent.
