Bulgaria sealed on Monday a contract with "Information Technologies in the Healthcare System" consortium to launch a national e-health portal.

The agreement was signed by healthcare minister Radoslav Gaydarski and his state administration counterpart Nykolay Vassilev.

The consortium has won the tender, organized by the two ministries, offering to carry it out for BGN 1,2 M.

The national health portal is to make lots of services accessible to the doctors as well as to the patients.

The project provides also for loading of web based information system, which will consist of personal e-portals of 40,000 health officials.

Development of such portals is part of the e-Health initiatives of the European Union.
