Bulgaria Ends 38 Suits on Human Trafficking in 5 Months

A total of 38 lawsuits on human trafficking have been brought to an end in the last five months in Bulgaria, the Deputy Main Prosecutor Hristo Manchev said Tuesday.

Victims of these cases became 76 women, seven of them underage and another two - foreign nationals.

The total number of such lawsuits in 2006 was 80.

Most of the human trafficking suits in Bulgaria are investigated by the Appellate prosecutor's office in the country's second largest city of Plovdiv.

Officials have previously announced that the total number of people sentenced for human trafficking for the first nine months of 2007 was 26.
