Bulgaria continued its quest for qualification for next year's Olympic Games in Beijing, winning its sixth match at the volleyball World Cup in Japan, beating Tunisia 3-1 on Tuesday.

Bulgaria won a difficult opening set 26-24, but looked mistake-prone in the second and lost 22-25. The Bulgarian team then won the other two sets without too much difficulty 25-15 and 25-17.

Bulgaria remains third, ahead of the US on points difference by the slimmest of margins, although the US has a better sets won-lost ratio.

The team now faces a two-day rest, which will give several players, including last year's European MVP Matei Kaziyski, time to overcome niggling injuries.

On Friday, Bulgaria will face Russia, who top the tournament table after winning all their games so far and dropping only one set.

Under the competition rules, the twelve teams in the tournament play against each other in a round robin format, broken down into four stages.

The team with most points at the end wins the competition and the top three qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
