Bulgaria's famed Roma gay and popfolk star Azis is set to stir a new controversy, appearing on the cover of local lifestyle and gossip weekly magazine Bliasak in an extremely provocative pose.

Azis is courting media attention for his new TV show, which will launch on Bulgaria's newest broadcast television TV2 next week in the primetime late evening slot.

"I am ready to do anything for a high rating for my show! As you can see from the pictures, I sold my body, or as we say it, got a tuning," Azis said in a statement released by the magazine's PR agency.

Billboards picture Azis, who obviously wanted to show off with his latest plastic surgery addition - breasts worthy to be put in a Baywatch swimming suit.

Such tinsel advertising materials, picturing the gay idol embracing his partner have already been taken down throughout Bulgaria, including capital Sofia and the town of Kyustendil.

The ads have caused a furore in Bulgaria and outraged local authorities have all ordered they were taken down, even though in some cases the billboard space was paid for only 48 hours.

This is not the first time Azis has shocked the society with such visuals and a billboard featuring his derriere two years ago, promoting a new song, was on prominent display in Sofia downtown until mayor Boyko Borisov ordered it down.

TV2 will launch on Sunday and its producers have big hopes for the primetime show that Azis will host, which will compete for TV ratings against the country's most popular late night show, hosted by Slavi Trifonov on bTV, the Bulgarian broadcast channel owned by News Corp.

Although he does not appear as a shareholder in TV2's ownership structure, media reports have claimed that influential advertising mogul Krassimir Gergov is behind the new channel.

Bliasak is published by Sanoma Bliasak, a joint venture between local Bliasak Media and leading European publisher Sanoma. The joint venture also publishes Elle and Cosmopolitan magazines in the country.
