Bulgaria's prime minister has appointed Ilonka Raychinova deputy justice minister, filling in just one of several vacant offices in the department.
Raychinova will replace Dimitar Bongalov, who resigned last week in the wake of an internal scandal that ripped apart his Green party.
Bongalov was in charge of Bulgarian prisons and was appointed deputy justice minister on the quota of the Green party, which is member of the leftist Coalition for Bulgaria.
Ilonka Raychinova is a graduate of Sofia University and has experience as head of the indirect taxes department in the Institute for Marketing in Sofia and teacher at the Centre for Training Lawyers with the Supreme Lawyers' Council.
The offices of another two deputy justice ministers are still vacant.
