Mayoral Runner in Bulgaria's Byala Gets Death Threats

Crime | November 4, 2007, Sunday // 00:00

The mayoral candidate in Bulgaria's Byala municipality Iliyan Tsonev has received Sunday death threats by an anonymous caller.

The runner was said he will be "killed in the centre of the town in the presence of the people from his headquarters and then buried in junk-heap" in a phone call that came after Tsonev gave a TV interview on Friday.

Police authorities as well as the Regional Prosecutor's Office in the city of Varna have been immediately signalled over the threats.

The case is still under investigation.
