Two bomb alerts triggered tensions in Varna as the coastal town citizens were heading to vote for a mayor and municipal councillors.

Anonymous callers told police that explosive devices have been planted at a school, home to a polling station, and at a club in a residential district.

Bomb disposal squads combed the buildings only to find the alarms were false.
