British "Emerging Markets" magazine named Bulgaria's Plamen Oresharski Finance Minister of the year, ranking him before his counterparts from all countries with developing economy across Europe.
The minister was awarded over the strict fiscal policy he pursues, protecting Bulgaria from actions that could threaten its macroeconomic stability, the magazine said.
Among Oresharski's achievements, "Emerging Markets" point also the low percent of GDP's re-allotment that helped unemployment reduction to about 7%.
The policy of Bulgaria's finance minister improves the business climate in the country as well as the condition of the labour market, the magazine claims.
Plamen Oresharski received the award in the heat of the wage dispute over Bulgarian teachers' wages, which triggered the ongoing mass strike actions that paralysed the education system in the country.
