Svetlin Stoynov, a Bulgarian lawyer and businessman has been beaten black and blue on Wednesday afternoon in his office by two masked men, Darik News reported.

Stoynov has been transported to the Military Medical Academy with many bruises on his head and body, but his condition is not critical.

The police have cordoned off the crime scene and forensic detectives are already gathering evidence material.

Stoynov's name is linked to several companies, the biggest of them being the Bulgarian firm KG Maritime Shipping, part of the German-registered Martrade Shipping Transport. The lawyer holds 99% of the shares of KG Maritime Shipping.

The Bulgarian company is one of the three firms that submitted letters of interest for the majority stake in Bulgaria's state shipping company Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar).

The reason for the attack of Stoynov is still not clear.
