Bulgaria's social workers will stage a protest on Tuesday in front of the Labour Ministry to ask for a 20% rise of their salaries.

The employees in the state-run social homes in the whole country did not get even a 10% rise from July 1, Maria Temelkova, chairwoman of the Federation of Syndicates in the state administration said.

The social workers will also ask for a rise of the money spent on the social homes.

The average monthly wage a social worker gets is less than BGN 300 and the employee has to take care of around 50 people during a 10 to 12-hour working day.

The government will allocate more funds for the social homes and for the social workers' wages, Social Minister Emiliya Maslarova answered the provocation.
