Bulgaria's hardliner rightist party Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) said on Tuesday it planned to quiz the Socialist-led cabinet on its education and economic policies in the parliament in the near future.
With less than a week to go before the start of the school year, Bulgaria's teachers are threatening to go on strike unless their wages are doubled, a demand rejected by Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev.
"We should see whether the problem is in the cabinet's education strategy or its implementation," DSB leader Ivan Kostov said.
He outlined on Tuesday the party's top priorities for the forthcoming parliamentary term, which remain firmly focused on opposition to the three-way ruling coalition.
In addition to taking on the government regarding its education strategy, DSB also means to oppose the government on its economic policies and planned tax cuts.
The party will argue the abolition of the tax-exempt income and other tax breaks will hit the low-income bracket of the society the worst, de facto increasing the amount of taxes they pay.
