The centrist party of former king Simeon Saxe-Coburg is very likely to back the incumbent mayor of Sofia and founder of right-wing GERB party in the upcoming local vote in October, it emerged on Wednesday.
"The king's party has not set any conditions in exchange for their support. This will not be a trade-off," Tsvetan Tsvetanov, formal leader of GERB and until recently Boyko Borisov's right-hand man in Sofia municipality, commented.
Tsvetanov met on Wednesday the former parliamentary speaker and now MP on the king party ticket Ognyan Gerdzhikov, the first of a series of working meetings of the party leadership before the local vote.
A meeting between the two parties' leaders - Boyko Borisov and Simeon Saxe-Coburg - is expected to finally seal the deal for the local vote.
Polls suggest that GERB will do very well in October elections and Borissov is considered a sure bet to win a second term.
