Manchester City striker Valery Bojinov will replace Tottenham Hotspurs' Dimitar Berbatov in the Bulgarian squad for Wednesday's football friendly match against Wales.

Team captain Berbatov is injured and cannot take part in the fixture, the first game for manager Dimitar Penev in his second spell in charge of the Bulgarian national team.

Bojinov was brought in to replace Berbatov from the under-21 squad, which will play Greece in a friendly game in Athens on Tuesday.

The full squad for the game with Wales includes nine players plying their trade abroad - Manchester City's Martin Petrov and Bojinov, Stiliyan Petrov from Aston Villa, Leicester City's Radostin Kishishev, Energie Cottbus' Stanislav Anguelov, Chavdar Yankov from Hannover 96, Celta's Petar Zanev, Tsvetan Genkov from Dinamo Moscow and Kayserispor's Dimitar Ivankov.

The other half was drawn from the Bulgarian league, with Levski's Georgi Petkov, Lucio Vagner, Igor Tomasic, Hristo Yovov and Dimitar Telkiyski, as well as CSKA's Alexandar Tunchev, Valentin Iliev and Velizar Dimitrov all called up. Litex's Ivelin Popov is also in the squad.

The match will be played in the Black Sea city of Burgas, starting 5 pm local time (2 pm GMT).
