Fifty-nine new cases of HIV positive Bulgarians have been added to the deadly statistics since the beginning of the year, taking the total up to 748.
Men account for as many as 78% of the newly registered cases, showing a clear trend of increase as compared to women. By 2006 the sex ratio of the HIV-infected Bulgarians stood at 67% men and 33% women.
When the virus is sexually transmitted, same sex contacts among men prove to carry great risk - 24% of all newly registered men with AIDS infection say they had homosexual contacts with men. The other most vulnerable group are drug addicts.
The HIV-infected Bulgarians are aged from 16 to 61 and there is a sharp fall in the average low-end age with 30% of the registered being from 25 to 35 years old.
More than half of all diagnosed this year - 60 % - are citizens of the capital Sofia and the second-biggest town of Plovdiv.

The HIV/AIDS virus is spread through blood. Both during vaginal and anal sex* (unless one wears a condom on the little soldier), there is friction between the moving parts. That is what makes little Kolega feel so nice. Friction upon the fleshy parts often results in burst capillaries and possibly minute mixing of blood. That is primarily how AIDS spreads (other ways being sharing needles, infected blood, mother-fetus transfer), regardless of which one of the two openings is used.
This has been a public announcement for those of us who might have skipped any sex-ed classes and failed to educate themselves elsewhere.
*True also for oral sex which is why there have been cases of throat cancer because of overuse.

I saw something concerning the lack of circumcision contributing to a higher AIDS infection risk as well. Something along the line of 31% greater chance at contraction.
Had to do with abrading/tearing of the foreskin.
How they can measure that % is well beyond my forte.

If you count that most women (50% of the population), like those "frictions" (I would hope) and are only 33% of the cases, compared to, what is it - 10% of men (theoretically 50% of the population), being Gay, so actually 5% of the overall population being Gay men, account for 67% of the cases...
What I am tired of is activists, propagating this infliction as a "mass problem" in order to secure funding for treatment.
There are many more pressing problems that aren't behavior related, that should get more attention...

Don't strain yourself trying to do Math now. According to your ridiculously rough premises, for those 33% of women who have AIDS and didn't catch it from the air, there has to be a corresponding percentage of men who like sex with women who have AIDS. Add that to a history of under-reporting on the side of prostitutes and johns and societally shamed women, and your "calculations" prove to be full of crap.
