The school year in Bulgaria, which starts on September 15, will be marked by a one-hour effective strike of the school teachers.

The news for the protest was announced by the chairman of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Zhelyazko Hristov on Tuesday.

Representatives of the teachers' syndicates and the Ministry of Education will hold a meeting to discuss the teachers' demands for higher salaries.

"Expect a wonderful autumn," Krum Krumov, head of the Education branch of the Podkrepa syndicates told the media previously.

The teachers in Bulgaria threatened several that they would go on effective strike in September if the government does not satisfy their demands for higher salaries.

The syndicates want the teachers' salaries to be raised by 25% from October 1.

Just two months earlier, the teachers in the Sofia French language high school put excellent year marks on all its 800 students on Wednesday as a way of silent protest.
