Sofia ER Hospital Board Announces New Head

The new executive manager of the Sofia ER hospital Pirogov will be announced on Monday.

The competition for a new hospital head was carried out on August 6 and was organized by Bulgaria's Ministry of Health.

Four candidates applied for the post, namely Vladislav Hristov, Alexander Chervenyakov, Dimitar Radenovski and Vladislav Ivanov.

All applicants were asked to pass a written and an oral exam before they were shortlisted for an interview. Only the ones who scored more than 4,5 out of six were admitted to the oral exam.

Pirogov Hospital was left without a director after a month of daily protests of the hospital's staff, who, in addition to the demands for higher salaries and change in the statute of the hospital, wanted to oust its previous head Doctor Spas Spaskov.

The hospital staff even went on the first-ever effective strike and Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski changed the managing board three times in only three weeks.
