The soldiers, who were hurt last week in a crash near the town of Haskovo, will fully recover, doctors assured the defense minister.

Minister Vesselin Bliznakov visited the six soldiers, hospitalised in the Military Medical Academy in Sofia in a bid to raise their spirit.

Ivan Koynovski, the solider, who suffered the heaviest injuries, underwent a surgery on Tuesday and remains in the intensive care unit.

Another eight were rushed to the military hospital in the second-biggest town of Plovdiv.

The military truck, which had 13 soldiers on board, overturned off the road when returning from a training mission.

The reasons of the crash are still being investigated, but it appears the wet surface of the road, the truck's high speed and the driver's tiredness combined to cause the accident.
