A total of four people drowned and other five are declared missing after the floods caused by the torrential rains that poured over Bulgaria's town of Tsar Kaloyan late on Monday.

The victims are three elderly women and a mentally diseased man. Their bodies have been found by the emergency crews that continue working for helping the situation.

Dozens of houses have been destroyed and many cars were carried away in gullies near the town.

The people, whose homes were pulled down, have been sheltered in the local school building.

The regional committee for emergencies and disasters is expected to declare state of emergency until midday.

Few days ago the local authorities declared state of emergency over the drought that destroyed great amount of the crops in the town of Tsar Kaloyan.
