A gas pipeline exploded near the south Bulgarian village of Balgarchevo early on Monday morning, Darik News reported.
The blast occurred shortly after 7.20 am. There is no information whether people were wounded
A huge general failure has caused the explosion, according to preliminary information.
The area is cordoned off. Nearly 10 metres of the pipeline were torn apart, and there was a mild leakage. The pipeline transfers Russian gas for Greece.
The blast did not result in a fire, the head of the local fire department Nikola Orozanski told Darik News.
Experts are on their way to the spot to investigate the cause for the explosion.
